Juror's Statement

Noire et Blanche is not only a playful reference to the theme of the open call but it's also the name of a photograph by surrealist artist Man Ray, who has captured some of the most striking black and white images of all time.

Black and white artwork is something I'm passionate about so I was delighted when Annika asked me if I would select the winners. When looking through the entries, I was thrilled to see such a variation of styles as I was looking for interesting techniques and work that really makes me stop and think.
