ABOUT THE CURATOR

Dylan Hausthor is an artist based on an island off the coast of Maine. They received their BFA from Maine College of Art and MFA from Yale School of Art. They work teaching ghost hunting, ritual, photography, and mushroom foraging. To help write this biography, Dylan contacted a forensic medium, who suggested that they “seemed like someone who was passionate in the things they believed in, hides secret messages in the things they have to say, and should avoid driving Volvos.” They are a 2024 Guggenheim Fellow.

ABOUT THE SLIDING SCALE APPLICATION FEE

As of April 2024, CICADA asks for an application fee for open calls. This decision comes out of the desire to compensate guest curators for their time and to cover the basic expenses of running the website.

CICADA recognizes that any application fees can be barriers to artists. For this reasons, we offer sliding scale options in an effort to keep things as affordable as possible. Additionally, if the fee is a barrier for your application in any way, please send us an email
